Smart Spending: Plan Your Super Bowl Party Now

The NFL playoffs are rolling along, and even Canada has football fever. As a big sports fan myself, it’s never to early to start planning your Super Bowl party. At this point in the playoffs, we don’t know who’s going to be in the big game, but you can know where you’re going to watch it.

Circle your calendars, because the Super Bowl is here on February 6.

Pick the Venue

Whether you’re there to eat the food, watch the game or watch the commercials, you’re going to want a good place to catch the action. After years of seeing the Super Bowl in bars, I took the game home last year. I put away everything breakable, cleaned the bathroom and invited over all my rowdy friends.

Getting in front of it makes sure all your friends will be in and there will be no confusion about where to go – and watching the game at home (instead of a pub, restaurant, or stadium) will save you a lot of cash.

Stock the Fridge

For a lot of people, the Super Bowl is a legitimate holiday. That means food, drinks and fun. When hosting a party, I like to make a crockpot of game food like chili. It’s easy to do, and a cheap way to feed a lot of people. Also – when you’re taking care of the main course, it’s easy to get others to bring an appetizer or two.

As always, BYOB is a smart spending way to have a good time.

Have a Good Time!

A bit of planning for the game will make sure your friends show up, your neighbors are ready for some noise and everybody has a good time. Make some food, pick up drinks before hand, avoid the pub and you’ll have a great time on an easy budget.
