3 Great Father's Day Presents On A Budget
Father’s Day 2011 is just about here, and it’s time to start thinking of a great present for dear old dad. If your father is anything like mine, he doesn’t want you to make a big fuss, or spend a ton of money on him for Fathers Day.
Luckily for Dad, and you, there are some great ways to spend a little and give a lot this time of year. Keep to the traditional gifts and you’ll be light on the wallet, while still making sure your dad has a great day.
Here are some of my favourite low-cost Father’s Day presents and activities to make for a special day on a light budget:
1. The Right Steak
This one is foolproof in my family. If it’s Father’s Day and it’s my Dad and I, I’ll stop at the butcher to grab a few steaks and light the grill as soon as I arrive. There’s nothing like some good dude-time on the back deck while cooking a steak. Dad loves it, and the only cost is dinner. It definitely means more to pick out steaks and cook at home – rather than forking out the big bucks to hit a steakhouse. Sure, dad is worth it, but this can be even better.
2. Do the Yard
This is a classic – because it’s a good idea. Nothing says Fathers Day like someone other than Dad mowing the lawn, pruning the hedges and washing the car. Sure – it’ll be tough to do as good a job as he does, but I’m sure he will appreciate the effort.
3. An Activity
Is your dad an outdoorsman? A movie buff? An amateur bull rider? Whatever it is, I’m sure there is a great way to do what he loves on a budget. Whether it’s hitting the lake for some morning fishing, renting one of his favourite movies, or even getting on a bull… the important part is making that day about dad. There’s a ton of ways to have fun without breaking the bank.
There are some great tips to treat dad on his special day, and you barely had to spend any money. Spend some time with your old man – whether it’s on the phone, in person, or over a steak.
Happy Father’s Day to all those dads out there. I hope these tips are what you’re after this year.
