Spring Break on a Budget: A Student’s Guide

Here it comes. That one glorious week in second semester that’s for catching up on your studies, cleaning your dorm room and calling your parents to report on your straight As…

Ok – I think the parents stopped reading. Spring break is a great time to relax and potentially take a trip with some friends. Common destinations like beaches in California, Florida or Mexico dominate the spring break ideals, but you can see there are a lot of options for fun during your spring break from university.

Stay Local

There are plenty of great things to do around your town, trust me. Check out Facebook for events, shows and concerts. Hit your student union building and check out the postings as well. Just because there are no classes, doesn’t mean there isn’t going to be any action.

Go to the Experts

Check out something like Hotwire Children (2-17 yrs) Compare with Hotels.com (opens in new window)), Priceline or a local travel agent to see where the deals are. If you have a reasonable budget for some fun, and don’t care exactly where you go, I guarantee you’ll be able to find some fun. Follow the deals and you’ll keep your costs down. That’s part of the adventure of your education.

You Know…Actually Catch Up on School

This might not be the most popular, but hitting the books is going to be great on your wallet and your education. University is a great time to have some fun, but you’re there to get your degree. Find that balance between fun and studying and you’ll do great.
